Revolution: - noun a radical and pervasive change in society and the social structure, esp. one made suddenly to the sound of the country music industry.
In April of 2008 a revolution took place, the battleground was FM Radio frequency 95.9 in Fort Worth, TX. Battle lines were drawn and sides were clearly defined, Mainstream or Texas Country. The listeners and fans of 95.9 FM the Ranch stepped up in unprecedented numbers with phone calls, emails, and even numerous self-made petitions. Disc Jockeys were stopped on the street and begged to weigh in on the battle, phone callers became agitated and expressed their opinions in colorful manners, one listener even threaten to cut down the radio station’s tower, (No charges were filed.) Over 98% of all respondents were adamantly in favor of Texas Country. In late April the smoke cleared and 95.9 The Ranch was proclaimed 100% Texas Country and has been ever since. The battle was won, but the war is not over. Every day another over-produced, watered-down country album is printed in Nashville and pushed through the machine that is Mainstream Country.
