After a short illness singer songwriter and Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Williams passed away today at the age of 78. Often referred to as the “Gentle Giant” because of his size and demeanor, the Floydada, Texas native was known for his smooth baritone voice and mellow tone. Over the course of his illustrious career Williams racked up seventeen number one hits and toured for more than forty-five years, only retiring in March of 2016. A staple on country radio from the mid-seventies through the late eighties many of us grew up singing along with Williams’ hit songs like, “I Believe in You”, “Tulsa Time”, “Lord I Hope This Day is Good”, “Love is On a Roll”, and many more. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
