Denny Hamlin was able to avoid the late race carnage to notch his second career Daytona 500 victory. Hamlin led 30 of the final 38 laps on the way to his first win since 2017. The last 15 laps were marred by three major crashes and two red flags which left only 19 cars on track by the end of the race. It was a 1-2-3 finish for Joe Gibbs Racing as Kyle Busch came home second and Erik Jones third despite losing power earlier in the race with a fuel pressure issue. Matt DiBenedetto led a race high 49 laps but was taken out in the biggest wreck of the day involving 21 cars on lap 192.
