Teachers make a big impact on the lives of the young people within our community. That’s why 95.9 the Ranch and Van Griffith Kia have teamed up to salute our local teachers by selecting a teacher of the week to recognize weekly.
This week’s teacher of the Week goes to Mr. Gene Schramme at Ben Barber Career Tech Center, part of the Mansfield Independent School District! Mr. Schramme was nominated by Chad Huffhines and this is what he had to say about him:
“Mr. Gene Schramme is a fine Christian man that has devoted his life to the often daunting task of educating our children. He is the Construction Tech teacher for high school students and live his life as example to the youths. The stories he tells me about these kids and what he does to get them ready for life outside of high school are nothing short of amazing. Some kids don’t even know how to look a man in the eyes and greet them with a firm handshake. I believe Gene teaches them not only skills but how to be productive men and women in society.When he is not teaching school, he has spent a number of summers as a camp director at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce on Possum Kingdom. On weekends, he teaches bible school at First United Methodist Church in Mansfield and you’ll often see him with the youth on Wednesday nights. The thing about Gene is, he’s not only a mentor to our youth, he also sets the example for other men in our community. He’s always teach, even when he doesn’t know it!”
